Who and why
Have you ever felt that you are the only one going through whatever it is your going through?
I know how I feel at times and that is exactly why I started this blog. At first, the goal was "to give me a voice" and *eventually* to earn some extra income. I mean, who doesn't like some extra income as a perk? The voice part though... that is my original primary objective and purpose. The internet has made it possible for all kinds of people, in all walks of life, from all over the place, going through all kinds of similar experiences... to connect.
Positive connections are so important, and without having physical people close to have those specifically chosen positive connections to the internet is the next best thing. Most social media can not be filtered to only include positive posts, comments, remarks, etc. so that is what I intend to do on this blog.
THIS IS EMPOWERING TO ME. It is going to motivate me, give me a goal, a project to work on. At least, that is what I am telling myself...and right now, I am agreeing with myself. Sometimes it starts out that way and other times it doesn't. I do currently have several other projects going on (I like to craft, crochet, research family heritage, do puzzles, ....the list doesn't stop) I decided that having one that can grow, inspire others, offer hope, give a relate-able experience, and throw in some good laugh so hard your sides hurt.
That being said; if you are still reading this, you may be wondering, who is this person? Why are they writing about their life? What makes them so special?
To answer those pondering inquiries...
Just like the words of Alanis Morissette "I'm a b*, I'm a child, I'm a mother, I'm a sinner I'm a saint...", I am more than just one pronoun and really didn't want to get into specifics because it will cause a predetermined opinion of me. This opinion is based on some stereo-typical view you have based on past experiences, albeit it good or bad. However, the "what is she hiding?" aspect never helps anything so... here are some facts to help your mind 'paint the picture' of who I am...
I am a woman in her late 30s, a mother of two girls: one now 19 and one 13 who now lives her father (an unexpected life change in 2019). My daughter's boyfriend has lived with me since he was 16 and is now 22, so he's both my "adopted" son and my "not-yet-son-in-law."
I was born in small town, WV to my still married parents (39, going to be 40 years this year) and moved to a small city in WV when I was 5 yr old. I grew up, and then raised my girls in same "hometown." Until 2019 when everyone, including my husband, all moved to Greenville, SC. He left within one month of moving the family and life has been ever-changing since then....just now starting to settle back down. I have moved more times than I did in my entire adult life in 2019, finally resting in Spartanburg, SC. At first it was just me and my 12 yr old, then it changed to be just me, it changed again several times and today it is myself, my 19 yr old, her boyfriend and their going-to-be 3 yr this Sunday son, his dog and their cat. *(I know, its a lot, believe me, I am aware.)
My life is and has been a roller coaster, since I can remember, despite my best efforts to have the "boring life" of work, home, family, church/community, no extra and no drama.
My mom and I are close, specifically to say we are friends not just mother/daughter and we talk quite frequently (once a week minimum). We would be talking about some scenario in my life, that 'no-one is going to believe' and throughout the years she repeatedly asks "Did you write that down in your book?" THAT is what has driven me to blog the roller coaster of my life.
